Darrell and Myself, have been extremely blessed over the years. No, we don’t drive brand new cars, but that is by choice. Yes I have beat up furniture, but that is because I have young children, know that soon we will be downsizing and some crazy Guatemalan dog that eats everything.
As we get older we realize that all the “Stuff” is not so important. My older kids realized a few years back that to it is not so much about the stuff rather about their crazy family. With their mother almost dying years ago, I think it gave them a different outlook on life.
We are a loud whackjob of a family. We are very blessed to be in the process of finalizing an adoption where we get to have a bigger whackjob of a family. These people are amazing and are a testament to what families are all about.
Darrell and I have long been believers in giving back and over the years it has varied from what to who.
This year seeing the devastating “tent cities” going up not just here in Surrey or Vancouver but all across our country, it saddens me that Mental Health issues, homelessness(which goes hand in hand) addictions, and poverty have put so many people in these makeshift cities.
I will not get on my political soapbox, right now, but what I will do is try to help in the immediacy. On a recent drive that took me through tent city, it brought me to tears, but what it also made me realize is that at any time anyone of us could be here. Oh, I know what you are saying “no not me”…. Bull Shit, I could tell you stories of professors and people that have owned their own mega-companies that have fallen.
Ok, so enough of that….. this year I am begging on behalf of a couple of people for your help.
Money is always good…. However, we all have those blankets that we don’t use and we all have extra coats we are dieting forever to once fit into again.
PLEASE PLEASE DONATE THEM TODAY. I WILL PICK THEM UP IN THE LOWER MAINLAND. I KNOW THAT MY FRIENDS CAN AFFORD TO BY THEMSELVES A NEW COAT AND DONATE AN OLD ONE. AND I KNOW THEY ALL HAVE THOSE BLANKETS BURIED IN STORAGE…
We are all humans with issues, some of them show some do not. It is a time of celebration many will not get, a time where we get together with families and friends. Some may not. Please, let’s kick off the holiday season by seeing that we are all at least warmer over the holidays.
My phone number is 604 782 7298 should you wish to donate. Thank you.
