Sylvia Beyer

I have been a home share provider for adults with Community Living BC for the past 12 years and five years ago I became a dual shared resource providing foster caregiving for Children and Youth with Special Needs for the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

My corporate career consisted of 20 years working in the Natural Gas and Petroleum Industry in BC, finishing as the Supervisor of the Natural Gas Measurement and Statistics department of Westcoast Energy (now Spectra Energy) followed by another 9 years as a Nursing Unit Coordinator at various hospitals in the Lower Mainland.

I have enjoyed providing support services to Special Kiwanis Youth Club, Burnaby Special Olympics and the Community Service Program for Adult and Juvenile Law Offenders under the auspices of the Ministry of the Attorney General Corrections Department.

I have held positions of Director, Vice President and most recently Past President of the Fraser Valley Foster Parent Association.  I currently provide support to Foster Parents in the Fraser Valley.

My life is enriched by the many people I have met and is generally filled with laughter and learning.  I believe life is all about inclusion and acceptance.
